I'm Going To DISNEYLAND !

Yesterday I volunteered with a few other friends to go out with the San Bernardino Nat. Forest Assn. Off Highway Vehicle Volunteer Program,to do Area Orientation, which consisted of traveling designated forest roads an taking notes, coordinates,an pictures of any road damage, trash that had been dump, new illegal trails, fallen trees blocking roads, etc. etc.
This all was just a small part of "Give A Day,Get A Disney Day" program.

We met at 9am at Lytle Creek Ranger Station, we were split into small groups an given maps of our roads that they would like us to cover, each group had at least one Federal employee along an everyone had ham radios for easy communications.
The group I was in did roads in the Lytle Creek area, then to the east side of Hwy 215 up Mt.Pike an though Crestline, an over to Silverwood lake out to Hwy 138, an were back to the Ranger station by 4:10pm. The weather was awesome with sun till 2pm, till we climbed Mt. Pike to the elevation of 5226ft where we drove right into the clouds to be greeted by hail, rain,an a little snow on the south side heading down into Crestline,an then more rain down to SilverwoodLake to end our day of wheel'n. When dropping off our info. at the ranger station all the groups were invited to the local AppleBee's for dinner an laughter...aaa.. I mean Good conversation about everybody's day! okay.. I'm talking to much here,I find I do that when I have a really good time so here's a few pics of our day.
P.S. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO ANY OF THESE ROAD YOU SEE HERE,THEY(all but one) ARE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC, for reason to protect them during the season from anymore damage.
Snow covered mountain is Wrightwood,Lylte creek ranger station where we started in the valley below.

Magnet ID door stickers that we found out disappear at speeds of 50mph..

Our small group being advised to split up so as to cover more roads quicker an where to meet up for our next road coverage as a whole group again.

Now our smaller group taken in the view...okay..really a pee break Rolleyes

One of those spots of weather damage we were looking for to report. Which we found later is called a S.L.U.T. I forgot what the term means, some fancy words for a simple rut,or washout.

This is called a BlowOut, FishPOET taking pic,for report info.

FishPOET trying to straddle a..hmm..never mind.

The cloud covered mountain in the back ground is Mt.Pike which was the other half of our day where we made our way to the top into the clouds of hail, sleet, rain an snow.

This is suppose to be locked, note taken, chords taken, pic taken,

This is really sad, three 5 gallon buckets of used motor oil left along the road side just 30ft. of Lylte creek, which is flowing with fresh snow melt water, Grrr... stupid humans!

Lunch break

Dino in the orange jeep,an Edia in the white jeep doing the dangerous straddle thing!

Now on the other side of the 215,15 merger climbing up Mt.Pike up to the clouds

Nothing to report here, a little self road maintenance

Entering the clouds an the Hail storm!

WIDE EYED FishPOET Shocked seeing Flashing Red Lights in his rear view mirror! an snow on the ground too.

A popular street in Crestline

A peek of Silverwood Lake nearing the end of our journey...

an one more note, THESE ROADS WERE ALL, BUT ONE, BEHIND LOCKED GATES

I met a lot of new wonderful friends an it was a pleasure to be a part of their group, Hope I will see them again soon.

Yes, I earned my Disneyland ticket, but I would of done this without the offer of that, it just feels good to give back a little to help take care of something that I enjoy seeing an using.
Please Tread Lightly,an take out what you took in. Thank You Mr. Green
