While out doi9ng some trail work for the upcoming Pieces of Eight Event, I decided to stop by the King of the Hammers Event at Mead Dry Lake.

WOW, what an event! I talked with vendors (SAAVY, 4Wheel Parts, Rubicon Express, Currie, etc) and checked out a bunch of nice rides! I hung around for the drivers meeting and then headed out on the trail after dark. The valley looked AWESOME with the row of headlghts coming down out of the mountains!

I watched a couple fo psycos try the "Back Door" in the dark. One guy was trying to go up while another was coming down. That was interesting. We lined up on the ridge across the way and had our headlights light up the rocks!

Needless to say I had a blast and the Great Pumpkin performed great throughout the entire day. I will need to take a closer look at the skid plates however. Those sure saved my tranny pan at my new cache, "KX6D was HERE!" (coming soon).

Next year I'm plannng to spend a couple of days at KOTH. As it turned out, I started the day coming in via Barstow and headed home via Yucca Valley. It made for a long day! I have family in Yucca Valley so I may stay there next year and drive in for the day.

If we could organize a Campout (I used to do this with the family as a kid and go every month with the Whittier Elks Club), we could corral the RV's and trailers and have all kinds of fun!

The King of the Hammers IS AWESOME! Thanks to Karstic for his post, pointing this event out!

Most people refer for King of the Hammers as KOH, not KOTH.

And I'm glad to be part of the madness. Can't wait for next year.
